Fabrizio Romano provides latest updates on Liverpool’s targets Matheus Nunes and Jude Bellingham
The continuous speculations about potential new midfielders for Liverpool may be wearing down the club’s fan base, but Fabrizio Romano has provided an update on two of the names that are currently receiving the most focus.
Writing for CaughtOffside, the Italian journalist said: “Liverpool are monitoring Matheus Nunes alongside other candidates for the summer transfer window, he’s always been appreciated, already when he was at Sporting.
“The main focus remains Jude Bellingham, Nunes is one of the midfielders they like; but nothing will happen in January for Nunes.”
It comes as no surprise to see Jude Bellingham’s name pop up once more and shows that everyone can at least maintain reasonable expectations that the Reds will be involved in a potential deal for him this summer.
It’s a little strange with Matheus Nunes because the Reds lost out on him this summer and will now have to spend more money to sign him ahead of the upcoming campaign.
Also, the Portuguese international hasn’t exactly lit up the Premier League this season, so it might be difficult to persuade some Reds supporters that the 24-year-old is the player they need.
It’s difficult to be too thrilled when the demand for a new man in the middle of the park seems to be growing even louder since it seems as though they are needed right now, especially given that none of these transfers can reportedly be finalised until the end of the season.
These are two talented players and the lure of the Borussia Dortmund teenager is huge for many but both of these potential deals are several months away from negotiations even beginning.
