Joel Matip stunned his colleagues and the coaching staff yesterday with an incredible solo goal during Liverpool practice.
The goal was so outstanding that it had to be posted on the official Liverpool FC Twitter account. First, Matip stole the ball from Roberto Firmino.
He then avoided a three-way challenge from Tyler Morton, Carvalho, and Firmino to oohs and ahs from the coaching staff. Moving closer to the goal, Matip dodged Joe Gomez before converting with his outside of the boot, giving Marcelo Pitaluga no chance.
“Mamma Mia!” shouted Pep Lijnders, while Jurgen Klopp couldn’t hide his smile either. “You can see the joy in his face,” joked the manager. “He’s really happy, I can tell you.”

Cody Gakpo reveals why he struggles at Liverpool as ‘responsible’ Jurgen Klopp slammed
Liverpool new signing Cody Gakpo hasn’t yet managed to find his feet at Liverpool, with Jurgen Klopp also struggling in 2023 after overseeing just one win in seven games since the turn of the year.
Even more than the injury-plagued 2019–20 season, Jurgen Klopp is reportedly going through his most difficult moment of his seven-year Anfield tenure. Throughout their seven games in 2023, Liverpool has only managed to win once, and that triumph came in the FA Cup, a competition they are no longer a part of.
With a critical series of matches ahead, including the Merseyside derby against Everton on Monday and a Champions League round-of-16 match against Real Madrid, Klopp is under pressure to turn around the fortunes of the Reds quickly.
The future of the German is already being questioned by analysts and former players, along with a number of other significant club figures.
Cody Gapko has admitted that his start to life at Liverpool has been “difficult” but vowed to work hard and improve.

CodycoThe 23-year-old Dutch forward has made six appearances for the Reds but failed to register a goal or assist, looking rather lost in Jurgen Klopp’s currently dysfunctional system.
“It’s always different when you come into a team that was maybe first and winning every game, but it’s now in a little bit of a difficult situation,” Gakpo told WALK ON, Liverpool’s eMagazine.
“So for me it is to come in and show what I can. If we were in first I have to do that and now we are in another place I have to do that also. I just try to show my best side.”
Richard Keys, a former Sky Sports broadcaster, has criticised Jurgen Klopp and believes that the Liverpool manager may resign in the near future.
In response to Klopp’s choice to ignore a reporter in the post-game press conference following Saturday’s 3-0 loss to Wolves, Keys posted on his website:
There’s only one winner when a coach falls out with the press – and it’s not the coach.
“My guess is Klopp will walk. Not now – but if they’re knocked out of the CL by Real Madrid I think he’ll be gone before the start of next season.
“Liverpool are way off. A shadow of what they once were – and it’s no good blaming FSG. The downfall is Klopp’s responsibility.”

Liverpool sent Jurgen Klopp sack warning message as Premier League title queried

Liverpool sent Jurgen Klopp sack warning message as Premier League title queried
Jurgen Klopp has led Liverpool through a tough first half of the season, but the Reds have been warned that a number of teams would be ready to pounce if he is sacked.
With only eight victories from their first 20 games, Jurgen Klopp’s team is languishing in tenth place in the Premier League table. During their most recent outing, things only got worse as they were thrashed by Wolves.
With Manchester City facing over 100 charges for breaking the Premier League’s financial regulations, there is the cheeky optimism that a couple titles may be on their way to Anfield in lighter news.
If the Reds decide to fire Jurgen Klopp, a huge number of Europe’s top teams will reportedly be waiting in the wings to appoint the German, according to former Liverpool striker Stan Collymore.
Speaking to CaughtOffside, he said: “The reality is, if FSG sack Klopp, there is no one else out there better equipped to do a better job. So anyone calling for him to go should be careful what they wish for because I’m certain that if he suddenly became available, you’d have Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, PSG and even Chelsea all lining up.”

Collymore went on to say: “I still don’t think Jurgen Klopp should be facing the sack at Liverpool. I know they’re having an awful season but we need to look further back than just the past six months. Remember where Liverpool were when he came in – they were a real mess!
“They had a below-average squad, were barely competitive and couldn’t attract top players. Klopp single-handedly changed all of that and went on to win every trophy possible along the way, and he didn’t just turn them into a winning side, he completely revolutionised their style of play.”
Klopp saw his side lose 3-0 at Wolves on Saturday before refusing to answer a reporters’ question in the post-match press conference. The German was confident that he could turn around the team’s fortunes.
“You know my job, I know my job, my job is not to explain here how I can build up my team. I will be judged by that from you and that’s fine. Let me say it like this, for today, it was not good enough, what I did.”
Under the German, Liverpool has had tremendous success and their first-ever Premier League title. He has also won both domestic cups and led them to three Champions League finals, one of which they defeated Tottenham in 2019.

Liverpool told to dump 28-year-old star player who has “past his best” and struggling
Former Sky man Richard Keys has stated on his website that Liverpool left-back Andy Robertson is past his best.
The former Sky Sports presenter made the comments while giving his take on how things are going at Liverpool at the moment.
Keys, who now works for beIN Sport, has noted that Robertson has been struggling for the Reds this season.
And he believes that the 28-year-old £160,000-a-week Scotland international defender is past his best.
Keys wrote: “Robertson is past his best.”
The Liverpool and Scotland international left-back is 28 now, and it would be premature to suggest that he is in decline.

Robertson may not be having the best of seasons, but that does not mean that the former Hull City star is past his prime.
Hopefully, the 28-year-old will eventually get back to his best.
The Scotland international has given five assists in 15 Premier League starts for Liverpool so far this season and also has two assists in two UEFA Champions League starts to his name so far this campaign.
Last season, the left-back scored three goals and gave 10 assists in the Premier League, and provided three assists in the UEFA Champions League.

FSG ready to sack Liverpool boss, Jurgen Klopp on one condition

FSG ready to sack Liverpool boss, Jurgen Klopp on one condition
According to a report, two games could be crucial in deciding Jurgen Klopp’s future at Liverpool. Owners FSG will base their choice on these two games.
Right from the start of this season’s matches, everyone could see that Liverpool was having issues. When the Reds drew 2-2 with newly promoted Fulham on the opening day, they were beaten and out-thought.
Next time out against Crystal Palace, only a flash of brilliance from the now-injured Luis Diaz kept them from falling short. But those two dismal outcomes turned out to be just the beginning.
A trip to Old Trafford offered a chance to kickstart Liverpool’s season and with Man Utd having lost their opening two matches by an aggregate score of 6-1, hopes were high.
However, in their 2-1 defeat, United completely shut out Liverpool, and ever since, things have only gotten worse for the Reds.
Since then, the team has suffered humiliating losses to Napoli (4-1), Brentford (3-1), Brighton, and Wolves (both 3-0). Although Jurgen Klopp has constantly called for change, he still doesn’t seem to have the power to make any genuine changes.

Despite needing midfield reinforcements badly, Liverpool’s two biggest purchases in the past six months both came from the attacking ranks (Darwin Nunez, Cody Gakpo).
French Midfielder, Aurelien Tchouameni, who the Reds tried to sign last summer, but only had Real Madrid on his mind.
However, club legend Jamie Carragher is blaming Klopp and co, not FSG, for the decision to forgo signing a back-up option.
The Reds are now 10th in the league and eliminated from both domestic competitions. If nothing extraordinary changes, they might not even play in the Champions League next season.
So far, Klopp has been immune to criticism from large sections of the club’s fanbase. Owners FSG are generally the target for their ire, though that’s not to say Klopp isn’t increasingly coming under the microscope.
According to Caught Offside FSG are ‘likely’ to sack their heralded manager in the event their last hope of a trophy this year – the Champions League – ends in embarrassment.
Liverpool finished second behind Napoli in the group stage despite having won five of their final six games. As a result, they received the complex task of ousting European champions Real Madrid and entered the Round of 16 draws as a group runner-up.
Five of the previous nine Champions League titles have gone to Los Blancos, who also defeated Liverpool in the finals in 2018 and 2022.
The report added that Liverpool’s hierarchy are prepared to wait for the outcome of the Real Madrid ties before ‘deciding their manager’s fate’.

“That is on them”-Jamie Carragher gives honest opinion on Jurgen Klopp Liverpool exit fears

“That is on them”-Jamie Carragher gives honest opinion on Jurgen Klopp Liverpool exit fears
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has come under intense pressure, following a run of poor form in the Premier League this season.
Former Liverpool player, Jamie Carragher stated that despite the Reds’ recent troubles, Reds fans will still want Jurgen Klopp in charge at the start of next season.
The Merseyside team suffered a humiliating loss to Wolves on Saturday, keeping them in the mid-table. Ruben Neves’ goal in the second half sealed Wolves’ biggest victory of the year after two goals in the first 15 minutes gave Julen Lopetegui’s squad the lead.
It was the third time in a row that Liverpool have lost away from home in the league, while they have still yet to win a game in the competition in 2023. Carragher, however, did not call for the manager to go.
“There’s a lot of questions that need to be asked and a lot of answers to be found, but at the start of next season, I don’t think there’s anyone Liverpool supporters would want in that dugout other than Jurgen Klopp,” Sky Sports pundit Carragher said.
Liverpool’s only victory in 2023 came in a previous game against Wolves in their FA Cup third-round replay, but Brighton eliminated Klopp’s team in the very next round of the competition.
Carragher criticised Liverpool’s transfer strategy as well. Darwin Nunez and Cody Gakpo, who arrived at substantial expense, were two attacking reinforcements added by Klopp, but Arthur, on loan from Juventus, was the only central midfielder that was added.
There was money there for a midfield player, they tried to buy the lad who went to Real Madrid for £60-£70 million [Aurelien Tchouameni],” the former England defender said. “They couldn’t get him and Jürgen Klopp and his staff or the recruitment team decided that we don’t need to buy a midfielder.
“That is on them. They’ve got to the start of this season, and from day one at Fulham, they haven’t been able to cope with the intensity of a Premier League game of football and they’ve been ran over in every game that they’ve played.”
Liverpool now sits 11 points outside the top four, with fourth-place Newcastle earning a point on Saturday, and 10 behind fifth-placed Tottenham. Their next two games are against Everton and Newcastle, followed by a return to Champions League action against Real Madrid on February 21.
