“He’s outstanding” – Watch jurgen klopp reveals reason he made Liverpool offer key defender 5-years new contract

As one of the market’s smoothest operators at this point, Liverpool announced another agreement on Thursday evening that will make a lot of sense to observers.

Despite losing Sadio Mane to Bayern Munich in the summer, Liverpool was still able to sign Mohamed Salah to a new deal. Since then, the club has also revealed that Joe Gomez will be signing a new deal.

One of Liverpool’s crucial players moving ahead is the 25-year-old defender, who primarily plays in central defense but can also switch to right-back.

Despite experiencing a number of injuries, Gomez has already shown he can compete at the greatest level.

Joel Matip (30) and Virgil van Dijk (30) might be entering their twilight years at the top level, despite the fact that they have plenty of options in central defense after Ibrahima Konate’s impressive performance last season.

Gomez assured that there might not be a finer place for him to be in a statement to the club media.

“It is an unbelievable place to be; in my eyes, probably one of the best – if not the best – clubs in the world at the minute.”

“The opportunity to extend my stay here was an easy decision to make, really.”

Manager Jurgen Klopp of Liverpool responded as well, emphasizing the personality that Gomez adds to the team.

“Joe is an outstanding talent. He is also an outstanding defender and an outstanding human being.

“He has so many qualities, I could talk about them all day, so knowing that he will continue his journey with us is a massive boost one that everyone who loves Liverpool FC and cares about its present and future should be unbelievably happy about.”

Interestingly, Liverpool did not specify the duration of the agreement, although SkySports said that it would be a five-year agreement that would last until 2027.

That would put Gomez into his 30s and guarantee that, in theory, Liverpool will have him at his prime.
