Liverpool star Mohamed Salah speaks on rumours of him joining Premier league rivals
Mohamed Salah is willing to let his Liverpool contract expire before signing a free move with a Premier League opponent.
The Egyptian’s contract at Anfield expires in a year, and talks about extending it have come to a halt.
Salah wants to quadruple his weekly earnings to about £400,000 a week, believing that his achievements merit it.
Liverpool, on the other hand, is willing to let Sadio Mane leave this summer despite their desire to keep the Senegal striker.
Salah is open to staying at Liverpool, but he will depart on a free transfer in 2023 unless he receives a major rise in offer.
Salah wants to stay in England if he leaves next summer, according to the Athletic, and he’s open to joining a Premier League opponent.
Face-to-face conversations about an extension were last held in December, according to reports, and little progress has been achieved in the last six months.
Salah has 156 goals in 254 games for Liverpool since signing from Roma in 2017, and his representatives claim that the pay he is seeking would only make him the world’s sixth-highest paid player, which they believe is a fair representation of his value.
However, he is only 30 years old, and Liverpool is hesitant to make such a large investment.
If Salah becomes available on the open market in 2023, Manchester City, Chelsea, and Manchester United would all be anxious to sign him.
Only those three teams would be able to meet Salah’s wage demands, but it remains to be seen whether the Egyptian would go forward with such a contentious transfer.
