Liverpool set to sign £70m Superstar Steven Gerrard called ‘big talent’

The possibility of signing Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount at the end of the current campaign has now been seriously discussed by Liverpool.

According to The Athletic, Mount is a player in whom Liverpool has a “strong” interest.

According to reports, “major negotiations” about Mount joining Liverpool this summer have already occurred.

Liverpool is even thinking about what kind of pay they can provide Mount if he leaves Chelsea this summer.

Given that Mount is now inside the final 18 months of his contract, Chelsea will presumably be open to a summer transfer.

The Blues don’t want to see Mount leave for free in 2024 and would seemingly allow him to leave if a new deal can’t be figured out in the coming weeks.

Chelsea would want around £70million for Mount, which is a price many clubs may feel is excessive.

Mount’s contract is running down and Liverpool will surely attempt to negotiate that fee down this summer.

Manchester City, Manchester United, Newcastle United and even Tottenham Hotspur are all mentioned as Mount suitors.

Bayern Munich have even been mentioned after their decision to appoint Mount’s ex-Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel.

Yet for weeks now, it has felt like Liverpool are the ones to watch for Mount.

TalkSPORT actually claimed earlier in March that Liverpool were gaining confidence in their pursuit of the Chelsea man.

Add in 90Min suggesting in March that Liverpool have a belief that Mount would pick a move to Anfield over other Premier League clubs, and it’s starting to feel like Liverpool believe they can get their man.

Liverpool need midfielders this summer and with Jude Bellingham hopes in doubt, maybe the Reds will go in another direction.

Mount plus another midfielder could be worth around the same value as Bellingham, maybe even less, allowing Jurgen Klopp room for other signings.

Hailed as a ‘big talent’ by former Reds midfielder Steven Gerrard, Mount could be Liverpool’s big midfield addition of the summer.
