Fiorentina star midfielder Sofyan Amrabat
takes final decision over Liverpool and Barcelona
Liverpool’s midfield target in Fiorentina’s Sofyan Amrabat is said to be dreaming of a transfer to Barcelona in the summer.
Amrabat’s stellar performances for Morocco at the Qatar World Cup were believed to have attracted the attention of a few big European teams in January, and his brother Nordin confirmed the rumours via VoetbalPremier.
Despite Liverpool’s interest in Amrabat, Footmercato is now saying that the 26-year-old is reportedly set on a move to Barcelona.
On the final day of the transfer window, the Catalan powerhouses reportedly made a bid for the midfielder, according to Nordin, and made Fiorentina an offer that they flatly rejected: a loan with an option to purchase.
Amrabat is a defensive midfielder by nature, but he can also play as a central defender, showcasing both his versatility and skill set when representing his country in Qatar.
Amrabat’s Fiorentina contract expires in 2024, and because there hasn’t been any discussion of an extension, the Serie A player may find himself moving this summer.
It is undecided if he will make his desired transfer to Barcelona or whether he will wind up somewhere else, but the competition for his services this summer is expected to be extremely tough.
