Liverpool set to table cash plus player swap deal for Serie A star midfielder

According to Italian publication CMW, Liverpool is getting ready to make an offer for Inter Milan midfielder Marcelo Brozovic and is prepared to include Naby Keita in the move in the coming two weeks. Brozovic is reportedly worth around £30 million.

The 30-year-old has been a key player for Inter – clocking up 302 appearances for Inter. But this season, he has only played 12 times in all competitions for the Nerrazzuri. He missed all five Serie A games in October due to a hamstring injury.

Brozovic has missed the last three League games due to a calf injury since returning from the World Cup with Croatia. The 83-time Croatian star has fallen in Inter’s hierarchy as a result. Long-running rumors of a move to Liverpool.

According to CMW, towards the end of 2022, Liverpool were looking at a move for Brozovic, to replace on-loan Arthur. Another report from Italy, namely Mondo Calcio News, said Tottenham are ahead of anyone in the race for Brozovic.

Now, Liverpool are said to be on the offensive. The latest CMW report claims that the Reds are preparing a surprise bid to sign Brozovic – who is rated at £30m – by offering a cash sum, as well as Keita. His contract expires in the summer.

Jude Bellingham top a six-man shortlist along with Mikel Merino, Youri Tielemans, Moises Caicedo, Sofyan Amrabat, and Piotr Zielinski who have all been linked with a move to the Merseyside club.

But if the Reds are to go for cheap signing and use one of their out-of-contract midfielders as bait, Brozovic will be the right choice. He would give Fabinho a rest, one that is needed, given his form. So, signing Brozovic makes plenty of sense.
