Liverpool winger Ben Doak has signed his first professional contract at the club.
Doak made his Liverpool debut against Derby County in a Carabao Cup match.
The youthful winger, who recently turned 17 and was acquired from Celtic during the summer transfer window, was even handed a spot on the substitutes’ bench for the Premier League matchup against Southampton.
Doak quickly signed a new contract with Liverpool, who also made the official announcement that it was his first professional contract.
According to Liverpool’s official website, Klopp recently praised Doak after he made his debut, and he obviously pleased enough because he was handed a spot on the bench in the Premier League a few days later.
This season, Doak has been crucial to Liverpool youth’s UEFA Youth League campaign, scoring four goals and four assists.
Doak won’t likely be given a regular spot in Liverpool’s first team anytime soon, but long-term investments in young players may frequently be just as crucial as those in ready-made professionals.
