Liverpool keen to sign £80m star despite the player ‘favouring’ move to rival club

Liverpool are interested in signing Declan Rice with the race for the West Ham midfielder still wide open, according to a new report.

Despite West Ham’s difficulties in the Premier League. The 24-year-old has kept up his impressive play for the team this year.

He has a deal with the Hammers through the summer of 2024, and the team has the option to make it an additional year.

But given that numerous Premier League teams are apparently eager to sign the England international, it becomes more and more likely that the midfielder will depart during the summer transfer window.

While Rice has long been a target for Chelsea, the midfielder is also reportedly the Gunners’ “top summer target.”

Manchester United have also previously been linked with Rice, who has made 26 appearances in all competitions for West Ham this season.

Meanwhile, transfer journalist Rudy Galetti claims Liverpool are also interested in signing Declan Rice in the summer.

Jurgen Klopp’s side are in dire need of midfield reinforcements, with Borussia Dortmund star Jude Bellingham their top priority in the transfer market.

Liverpool may turn to Rice if their attempt to sign Bellingham is unsuccessful.

It’s an open race, Galetti remarked in a statement to GiveMeSport. Due to the interest from Chelsea and Liverpool, the scenario is changing.

Speaking to GiveMeSport, Galetti said: “It’s an open race. It’s an evolving situation because also Chelsea and Liverpool are interested in him.

“We have to wait a few more weeks to better understand the future of Declan Rice.”

Rice is reportedly leaning toward joining Premier League leaders Arsenal in the summer, according to The Guardian.

Since the Spanish coach is already “drawing up plans for where the West Ham captain would fit into his team” Rice is drawn to the opportunity to work with Mikel Arteta at the Emirates.

According to the report, West Ham reportedly demanded over £100 million for their star midfielder but may have to settle for less than that amount if the player is set on leaving.
