Liverpool boss, Jurgen Klopp could land Caicedo alternative with Amrabat swoop

Jurgen Klopp will be hoping that a much-needed refresh in the summer will bring the team back where they belong and compete at the highest level after Liverpool found themselves unable to maintain their domestic domination during the Premier League season thus far.

The Reds have a disappointing run of poor performances that have caused them to fall 10 points behind in the race for a Champions League qualification place inside the top four after 19 games, and as a result, they are currently ninth in the Premier League.

With the addition of Luis Diaz, Darwin Nunez, and Cody Gakpo over the previous 12 months, the power brokers at Anfield have indeed strengthened the attacking threat; but, the increasingly dismal position in midfield must be fixed.

When it comes to remaining midfielders, Jordan Henderson and Thiago Alcantara are both well into their 30s at this point, leaving only Fabinho as the most seasoned player who will likely be a part of the future in the center of the pitch.

James Milner, Naby Keita, and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are all set to leave the club at the end of the season when their contracts expire.

Because of this, it will be crucial for them to bring in a number of top midfielders if they want to advance and compete domestically with teams like Arsenal, Manchester United, and Manchester City in the future.

One player who has been linked with a move to Merseyside this month is Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat and after it was reported that Liverpool have cooled their interest in Moises Caicedo, he could be the dream alternative.

Amrabat is among the top 10% of his positional peers in the top five European leagues for passes attempted, passes completed, and progressive passes, as well as among the top 17% for blocks.

Amrabat was one of the standout performers at the FIFA World Cup 2022 thanks to his ability to read games, offer strong defensive qualities, and make incisive passes in the center of the pitch. This performance undoubtedly helped him catch the attention of the recruitment and scouting team at Anfield.

With that in mind, if Liverpool could acquire the services of Amrabat in their midfield recruitment drive it would be a major feat as he could be a valuable asset to Klopp in his pursuit to build the next generation of success.
