Jose Enrique urges Liverpool to sign young  prolific striker ahead of January transfer window.

The reds have made a good start to the season and find themselves in second place in the Premier League table after 16 matches, also qualifying from their Champions League group with six wins out of six games.

However Jurgen Klopp’s side will lack first-term regulars like Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Naby Keita; which looks like Liverpool will struggle in their absence, they’re all expected to miss up to a month’s worth of action due to their involvement in the African Cup of Nations.

former Liverpool left-back Enrique believes that Liverpool must go out and sign Real Sociedad’s young forward Alexander Isak in January, for both the short-term and long-term.

‘For me, I know January is a difficult transfer window because sometimes people buy in panic,’.

‘But definitely I would go for one player who can play across the front three.

‘I love Isak from Real Sociedad, I think they should have signed him in the summer before he signed a new deal with Sociedad.

‘Now will be difficult but if they go with the right amount of money, definitely he is a player, he’s 22, a big lad, quick, strong, good one vs one, can play on the wings as well as a number nine, he defends.

‘There’s a lot of options out there don’t get me wrong, but he is one of the main options for me.

‘Isak is definitely perfect for Liverpool’s profile of signings, a young player, not spending 100’s of millions you’re going to spend £50-60m, definitely I would go for him.’

Isak has backed up his 17 goals last season with a further six goals in his opening 20 appearances in all competitions for Sociedad this season.
