Liverpool finally sealed the deal for Porto winger Luis Diaz in the January transfer window and Rivaldo believes he could make the difference for Liverpool.

The arrival of the Columbia International will help reduce the burden on Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane who have featured in every Premier League before departing for the African Cup of Nations.

Diaz was enjoying an excellent season with Porto, scoring 14 goals and providing four assists in the first half of the season.

“Liverpool signed Colombian attacker Luis Diaz who has been excellent at FC Porto in both the Portuguese League and Champions League, and I think the club’s decision to sign him now is intended to offer Jurgen Klopp more options in the attack,” Rivaldo told Betfair.

He added “With the Colombian in the squad, Klopp can manage his most used players like Sadio Mane and Mo Salah which will contribute to keeping them at their peak form when the time for big Premier League and Champions League games arrive.

Liverpool are second on the Premier League table nine points behind League leaders Manchester City, with a game in hand.

Jurgen Klopp side have a total of seven games in the entire month of February, including the first leg of the Champions League round of 16 against Inter and the EFL Cup final against Chelsea.
