“They are both great clubs but I prefer…” – Watch £129m star give his final decision as Man City joins Liverpool in the race to sign the star player
Rafael Leao is apparently in a bidding war with Manchester City and Liverpool for his services, but the AC Milan player want to spend the upcoming season in Italy.
The Portuguese international is aware that the Premier League is interested in him, with Pep Guardiola’s team, Liverpool, and Chelsea all keeping an eye on the former LOSC Lille superstar.

However, according to the CalcioMercato report, Leao wants to stay in Milan after having his best season yet with the Rossoneri.
Leao is eager to continue growing at the club where he has established himself as a regular under Stefan Pioli and is only getting better with each new campaign, with the winger scoring 14 goals and 12 assists.
The versatile attacker was instrumental in Milan winning the Serie A title.
Despite interest from City and Liverpool, who have made significant transfers to improve their attacking options, Leao has a release clause worth a whopping £129 million, so it will likely take a Premier League-record offer to get him this summer.
In what may well be the most intriguing move of the transfer window thus far, the Reds shattered their club record to sign Darwin Nunez from Benfica, and City won the race to sign Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund, perhaps canceling out a Leao approach.
The 23-year-old forward was among Milan’s top players last season, and given that Leao is only getting better and more complete with the San Siro team, it makes sense that the attacker is holding off signing for both city and Liverpool.
Leao is destined to become one of the best attackers in Europe, yet staying with Milan for one extra season rather than jumping the gun and heading to one of the continent’s biggest sides could be one of the best career decisions the Portugual international ever makes.
After all, Leao has only just had his first majorly impressive season with Milan, and building on from his numbers in the new campaign will be a good indicator of whether or not City or Liverpool should be forking out a huge transfer fee to sign the Serie A superstar.
Leao, who is expected to become one of Europe’s top strikers, may make one of the best career decisions of all time if he decides to stay with Milan for one more season rather than leaving early for one of the continent’s top clubs.
Leao has just recently completed his debut season with Milan, and his performance in the upcoming season will be a solid indicator of whether City or Liverpool should pay a high transfer cost to acquire the Serie A superstar.
