“I would be very surprised” Michael Owen issues Mohamed Salah Liverpool contract view

Former Liverpool striker Michael Owen has claimed that he expects Mohamed Salah to sign a new contract with the Reds.

The 29-year-old future at Liverpool has been in Limbo.

The Egyptian is out of contract at Anfield in the summer of 2023 and unfortunately for the Reds, there seems to be a stalemate in negotiations between the club and player.

Liverpool seems to be faced with money issues which is preventing them from reaching an agreement with their star winger.

But, Owen is confident that Salah will end up extending his stay at Liverpool, claiming that virtually any move away from Jurgen Klopp’s side will be a step backward for the attacker.

He told BBC Sport: “I’d be very surprised if Mo Salah didn’t sign with Liverpool. What are the options at the moment?

“You are only going either sideways to Manchester City or down anywhere else because there is no-one else as good as these two teams in the world at the moment.

“Let’s give everyone time because these things don’t happen overnight.”

One could argue that no one in world football is better than the Reds right now, but Real Madrid, Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain remain huge clubs and Both of them, Real and PSG, could very easily entice Salah to their shores.

Liverpool will pay the player what he demands to keep him at a Anfield in an ideal world. Sure Salah have other options and may be forced to decide.
