Revealed: The controversial reason why Liverpool will have to sell star forward Mo Salah
It is the contract dispute that has been going on for many months and now the future of Liverpool star Mohamed Salah seems to be in doubt more than ever.
With Salah’s contract at Anfield set to expire in the summer of next year, The 29-year-old and his agent Ramy Abbas Issa are unwilling to sign an extension and this has fuelled rumours that the player could make a big-money move this summer.
Liverpool will never allow a £100million signing if Salah leaves for free, with former Scottish striker Ally McCoist stating he now suspects the Egyptian WILL leave Anfield this summer according to TEAMTalk.
Speaking to TEAMtalk, the Rangers legend McCoist suggests Salah’s future may now lie away from Liverpool.
“It is looking increasingly like he will leave,” McCoist said.
“Until they can come to agreeable terms, that’s exactly what’s going to happen.
“It’s an interesting situation because he is certainly one of if not the best player in Europe over the last 18 months or so. He has been phenomenal.
“I think we have reached a stage where Liverpool are saying they can’t overstep this mark that they can’t really go to (on wages) and it looks like it is a stalemate.”
McCoist believes that the Egyptian international contract talk could take a new twist if the club chiefs agree to his demands.
But, the former striker also thinks one factor behind Liverpool potentially selling Salah relates to what the other high-profile members of their squad would command for bumper wages if the attackers’ request are granted.
“How much will it cost for Liverpool to replace Mo Salah, that’s a question,” added McCoist.
“Then the flip side of the coin, if Mo Salah gets what he wants, will three or four other players be knocking on the door (for a pay rise). So Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool have a balancing situation here.
“Selfishly from my point of view, I think it would be a disaster if he left the league. Clearly, we want all the best players playing in the top league in the world and he is one of them.”
