Kylian Mbappe ‘contacts’ Liverpool and informs them of his final transfer decision
Kylian Mbappe of Paris Saint-Germain is due to become a free agent this summer, and has been linked with moves to both Real Madrid and Liverpool, the Champions League finalists.
Liverpool has been informed that Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid are now competing for Kylian Mbappe’s signing.
Mbappe’s contract expires this summer, and he will be able to leave PSG on a free transfer after failing to reach an agreement on a new deal.
Last summer, Madrid sought three times to sign the World Cup winner, but each time a proposal in excess of €200 million (£171 million) was turned down.
Despite being allowed to negotiate a pre-contract, Mbappe has remained coy about the situation, implying that a decision has been made.
“I will officially announce my decision on the future before I join the France national team in June. It’s a matter of days then it will be official,”
He explained after picking up his third consecutive Ligue 1 Player of the Season award on Sunday.
“It will be known very soon, it’s almost done. My decision is made, yes, almost.”
Liverpool have been linked with the prolific striker despite always looking to be behind their Champions League opponents in the race for his services. Mbappe has previously fluttered his eyelashes at the Reds and Jurgen Klopp, fueling speculation that he could end up at Anfield.
“This season, Liverpool have been a machine in the Premier League,” Mbappe said back in 2020. “They have made winning look easy but the truth is that it is never easy.
“Performances like they have been having don’t just happen. To be as ruthless as they have been would come from lots of hard work in training and from having a very good manager.”
According to Marca, if he were to leave France, his only other alternative would be to fulfill a childhood goal and play for Real Madrid, the team he grew up supporting.
According to reports, Mbappe’s advisors contacted Reds executives last week to inform them that, while he was impressed by their interest, they were not an option for him.
