‘I am coming to Liverpool’ – Liverpool receives major transfer boosts as they join Chelsea and Arsenal in chasing surprise deadline day signing with £20m bid set to be accepted by Aston villa
A host of top clubs are reportedly chasing a transfer Deadline Day deal for Aston Villa midfielder Douglas Luiz.
It currently appears that Liverpool, Chelsea, and Arsenal are among the teams considering a late move for the 24-year-old, who has just one year left on his contract at Villa Park.
According to Sky Sports, these three teams are competing for Luiz with Atletico Madrid, and one team is reportedly preparing an official bid of £20 million for today.
A late move now appears possible, which has some people surprised because Luiz hasn’t exactly been one of the primary players garnering attention during the entire summer.
The winner of the competition to recruit Luiz is still up in the air, but the Brazilian could undoubtedly make a big difference for Liverpool, who are currently short on midfielders due to injuries in that position.
The fact that Thomas Partey has shown to be a bit injury prone during his time at the Emirates Stadium suggests that Arsenal would be wise to move quickly to sign Luiz.
After a shaky start to the season, Chelsea may do well to continue their expenditure, with Luiz possibly being the best long-term replacement for players like N’Golo Kante and Jorginho.
Steven Gerrard suggested last night that Luiz’s situation is open as the transfer deadline draws near, as reported by Fabrizio Romano.
Luis has made an impression throughout his time at Villa, and last night, he scored an incredible goal against Arsenal right off a corner.
The Gunners went on to win that match to maintain their perfect start in the new Premier League campaign, and a late addition like this would only lift the spirits in Mikel Arteta’s squad even more considering Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko have both had outstanding starts since joining earlier in the summer.
Luiz would be a wonderful acquisition on deadline day, especially if he ends up arriving for as low as £20 million.
Liverpool and Chelsea need to invest more money if they want to become legitimate title challengers.
