At the age of 11, the promising kid joined Barca and was promoted to the senior squad in 2021.

Liverpool had hoped to sign the brilliant youngster, but Gavi has always preferred to renew his contract with Barcelona.

Liverpool’s pursuit came to an end when it was discovered that Gavi intended to sign a new contract with Barcelona, which includes a massive €1 billion release clause, according to Spanish news site Sport.

Klopp’s Reds have now turned their attention to hot transfer target and Leeds midfielder Kalvin Phillips, with Sport reporting that the Reds have already began discussing a contract to sign Phillips.

Phillips’ contract with Leeds United runs until June 2024, but his rising popularity this summer may tempt him to leave his boyhood club.

Manchester United and Manchester City have both expressed interest in signing the midfielder, but things have become more difficult since the Whites’ Premier League survival.

The Daily Mail earlier stated that the England international would turn down a move to Manchester United, but that Leeds would consider offers of around £60 million.

Pep Guardiola, who sees Phillips as a replacement for Fernandinho, is up against heavy competition from Jurgen Klopp to recruit the Leeds midfielder, but who will win, if anyone?
