Liverpool transfer: Liverpool have reportedly secured record club signing after agreeing Personal for Benfica striker Darwin Nunez
Liverpool have been heavily linked with a move for Benfica forward Darwin Nunez in the past 48 hours and the latest news coming in from the Reds camp looks positive.
The Reds and Benfica have finally reached a total record deal for the transfer of the South American striker, according to a new exclusive story published a few hours ago.
Liverpool have agreed to a cost of 100 million euros, according to a well-known Portuguese news source. They’ll pay 80 million euros (£68.5 million) up front, with the remaining 20 million euros coming via add-ons.
Nunez’s transfer will be the second most expensive in Benfica’s history after Joao Felix was sold to Atletico Madrid for 120 million euros.
Manchester United have also expressed interest in signing the 22-year-old striker, but he prefers to work under Jurgen Klopp at Anfield.
One of the major factors that has proven to be his choice of Liverpool is Champions League football. Next season, United will compete in the Europa League, Europe’s second division of football.
As per Fabrizio Romano (The Guardian), the Merseysiders are ready to agree a five-year deal with the former Almeria striker, who could replace Sadio Mane. Liverpool are looking to get a fee of £40million for the African superstar.
The Uruguayan forward started 32 games for the Eagles in all competitions last season and was directly involved in 38 goals (34 goals and 4 assists).
Darwin Nunez would be an excellent answer to City’s acquisition of Erling Haaland. Next season, it may be a fascinating duel. Liverpool fans should not get their hopes up just soon; as they have to wait for an official announcement.
