Wilfried Gnonto’s exquisite low drilled effort from the edge of the area gave Leeds, who fired head coach Jesse Marsch on Monday, the lead after just 55 seconds. Early in the second period, Raphael Varane converted a low cross from substitute Crysencio Summerville to give Leeds the lead (48).

The Red Devils held a 3-0 edge from the first leg and were firm favorites to progress to the final, where Newcastle United awaits.

In the end, second-half goals from the returning Anthony Martial and Fred were enough to kill off any faint Forest hopes of a shock turnaround.

Erik ten Hag introduced Martial, Rashford, and Jadon Sancho off the bench, the latter earning a huge roar from the crowd as he made his first appearance since late October.
