Martinez has excelled for Manchester United, who reportedly paid £47 million to acquire him away from Ajax last summer.

After being hired, he was one of Erik ten Hag’s top transfer objectives, and the defender known as “The Butcher” hasn’t let him down.

Martinez has featured in 15 games across all competitions for the Red Devils and has already distinguished himself as one of Ten Hag’s main players.

Despite Jamie Carragher’s claims that he is too little to play in the Premier League due to his height.

However, 24-year-old has silenced his critics by delivering star performances in defence.

Former Man United defender Rio Ferdinand hailed Martinez and his partnership with Varane.

“Martinez has been top this season but Varane gives us that something different, that speed, that experience and physicality,” he said. “I think he could be a huge loss.

“You need them two [Varane and Martinez] back together. We’ve seen straight away that those two together make us a different team, it’s as simple as that.”
