In the first half of the World Cup final versus France, Lionel Messi scored on a penalty kick to give Argentina the lead.
Argentina was given a penalty kick after Di Maria fell in the box.
Messi stepped forward to score.
After Angel Di Maria was brought down in the penalty area, Argentina was given a chance to score the game’s first goal from the spot.
The South American squad now has the upper hand in the race for the World Cup championship thanks to the goal, and things only got better when Di Maria made it 2-0 just before halftime.
Messi hopes to complete his international career as a world champion in what is likely to be his final game for Argentina.
