Tottenham Hotspur have contacted Manchester united for Jesse Lingard over a potential move to north London — but the Manchester United forward is not likely to depart Old Trafford this soon.

Spurs are instead interested in snapping up the 29-year-old on a free when his contract expires in the summer.

The Athletic revealed last week in David Ornstein’s column that Lingard had decided he will not be making a switch during the upcoming window, choosing instead to stay and battle for a way into interim manager Ralf Rangnick’s plans.

And it is understood that Antonio Conte:s Tottenham are one of the teams interested in the England international, reaching out to his representatives this week.

Lingard shone during a loan spell at West Ham United for the second half of the 2020-21 season, when he registered nine goals in 16 games.

Jesse lindgard narrowly missed out on selection for the delayed European Championship and returned to United amid the impression he would enjoy a more prominent role.

However, that did not happen in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s tenure and is yet to under Rangnick, further suggesting an association with United that runs more than two decades is drawing to a close.
