Transfer news: (WATCH) Liverpool reject offers for their ace midfielder from ‘top-flight clubs’ as jurgen klopp backs youngster to shine at Anfield

Given that Liverpool reportedly turned down a number of loan offers from other “known” Premier League teams this summer, Harvey Elliott appears to be in line to play a significant role for the club this season.

The 19-year-old, who was given the No. 19 jersey for 2022–2023, will be focused on securing a spot in Liverpool’s midfield.

Elliott played the first four Premier League games for Liverpool last year, although his progress was hampered by the horrific ankle injury he picked up against Leeds.

The England under-21 international may be in line for a great season under Jurgen Klopp after making his comeback to the field earlier this year and completing a full preseason.

That explains why Elliott’s services were apparently offered on loan this summer by Premier League teams, which the Reds reportedly declined.

According to Paul Joyce’s article in The Times, some “known top-flight sides” were interested in loaning Elliott to Liverpool for the upcoming season but Liverpool were “unwilling to listen.”

The announcement was announced shortly after Klopp listed Elliott as one of the factors supporting his contention that the team does not require the addition of another midfielder this summer.

“We should not forget that last season, in the first four games, Harvey was the best player. He was outstanding,” Klopp told reporters ahead of Liverpool’s trip to Bangkok.

“Then he had a bad injury and when he came back, he was high then low. Normal for a young player, and normal after a long injury.

“He looks sharp now, he’s back, and like everybody he needs luck, but he looks great.”

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, who is 28 and entering the final year of his contract, is the most probable player to leave Liverpool this summer.

But Elliott seems destined to play a significant role for Liverpool both this season and in the future.
