Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones tried to put a smile on a young fan’s face on Thursday night, only for a Jobsworth steward to ruin the moment.

A tough night for the Reds as Jurgen Klopp side failed to take advantage of ten-man Arsenal side following the sending off of Granit Xhaka in the first half.

But while it may have been an unhappy night for most fans inside Anfield, one young fan had an experience he will never forget, more or less.

Curtis Jones throwing ball to a fan

In a video posted on Twitter, Jones is seen warming down after the match with one of his Liverpool team-mates.

The person holding the camera then shouts over towards the 20-year-old star, who throws one of the club’s official match balls into the stands for a young boy to have.

But as the child collects the ball, one of the club’s stewards appears to try and take it away from the child, much to the man’s disgust.

With the ball returned, that seemed to be the end of the story.

However, a few hours later. Jones took to Twitter to confirm that the child got to stick around in the stadium and got another ball and a picture with the star.

The Liverpool fan finally got the ball

He tweeted: “The kid got to stay behind in the stadium, received another ball and got a picture. All sorted YNWA!.”

That’s still not the end of the story because it seems Jones actually invited a different child onto the pitch instead of the one who had the ball snatched away in the video.
