“I will show you” Rashford fires back at Critics amid report of dip in form
Former Manchester United assistant Steve McLaren came out after a 1-0 win over Aston Villa in the FA Cup and questioned Marcus Rashford’s poor attitude and body language.
Rashford has fired back accusations that he has a “bad attitude” as he suffers a sustained dip in form for the Red Devils.
Rashford is yet to find the back of the net for Manchester United in 11 games under Ralf Rangnick’s following United FA Cup third-round victory over Aston Villa on Monday night.
United are not in top form after some teething issues as the interim boss tries to implement his high pressing style of football.
One player who is notably not playing to his potential is Rashford, who is clearly lacking in confidence at the moment.
This was noticeable by many in the game against Villa, leading to him being vilified on social media.
McClaren, speaking to talkSPORT suggested Rashford needs help to get his head right by seeking professional help if he is to emerge from his current slump.
“The help is there in modern football,” said McClaren.
He [interim United boss Ralf Rangnick] brought in a sports psychologist. He’s got the talent and the ability.
“There’s that one cornerstone which we call mentality, attitude, which he hasn’t grasped yet.
“There are certain tools with which you can come out of bad times, so you play one bad pass and don’t make it two or three.
“You get back to playing simple again. But a player needs to admit first that he’s in the wrong, has a bad attitude, and needs help”
However, Rashford has fired back at those claims insisting, if anything, he cares about the club too much, according to reports.
Speaking on his Twitter, he said: “I read something earlier that said I’d been quiet on here, but what can I say that will make this better other than showing you all on the pitch?
“We’ve all been disappointed with recent performances and we’ve been as disappointed with the news coverage questioning our commitment to not only the manager and the coaching staff but the club.
“I have endless respect for both and I’m looking forward to bettering my game under the staff at Manchester United”
The 24-year-old has been linked with a move away from Old Trafford in recent times.
