Ralf Rangnick January transfer target sends cryptic message to Manchester United fans.
Manchester United hopes of signing River plate forward Julian Alvarez appear to be yielding fruit after the striker did little to deny reports of a possible move to Old Trafford.
United manager Ralf Rangnick is reportedly a staunch admirer of the Argentine star and sees him as a possible addition to his team.
Amid claims that Edinson Cavani could be on the way in January, earlier reports on Monday stated that United had made contact with Alvarez over the move.
The Argentine international has enjoyed a remarkable campaign, netting 18 goals and six assists in just 21 league appearances for River plate.
According to Argentine news outlet Ole, which suggests United ‘put in a call’ last week and expressed interest in bringing him to the Premier League.
Man United must complete the deal before January 21 if they want to avoid paying a high fee. That’s because his exit clause rises to £ 21 million in the last 10 days of the January transfer window.
United are not the only club eager to sign Alvarez, as the winger is a target of top European clubs, including Real Madrid, AC Milan, and Bayern Munich, who are reportedly monitoring him.
And it seems that Alvarez himself is well aware of the speculations, delivering a somewhat cryptic message about his future.
“Frankly, I don’t know what will happen, now I’m just thinking about celebrating,” Álvarez told reporters after the River Plate game at the weekend. “In January we will see.”
