PSG Lionel Messi sends Sadio Mane major Liverpool transfer warning

Sadio Mane has been linked with a move away from Anfield, with Bayern Munich and PSG reportedly interested in the Senegal star forward.

Mohamed Salah was the first, and now Sadio Mane. Both have been linked with clubs around Europe and will continue to dominate the news until their contract problems are settled.

Both of their contracts expire in 2023, and they have yet to sign new contracts to extend their time on Merseyside. They aren’t the only two players whose futures are uncertain, with Roberto Firmino also out of contract next summer, but their contributions this season make them the most significant.

Unlike the situation of Salah, Mane has remained relatively quiet about his predicament until recently. Of course, the primary attention remains on the final two games of the season, but the Senegalese international’s summer is building up to be key.

The 30-year-old has been linked with both Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain amid uncertainty over his future. German outlet Kicker are reporting that the Bundesliga champions have Mane ‘firmly in sight’. While BILD journalist Christian Falk has claimed PSG are favourites to sign him if he doesn’t renew at Liverpool.

Mane will have plenty of options if he chooses to continue his career elsewhere. PSG may be an appealing option because of the wage package they can offer and the position he could play if Kylian Mbappe leaves. Bayern Munich has recently enjoyed success in Europe and currently leads its domestic league.

Mane (22 goals) and Salah (30 goals) will both be crucial roles in Liverpool’s schedule heading into next season. For the second half of the season, the former has been in excellent form, filling a new role in the team to assist Luis Diaz.

Mane, in particular, has improved year after year under Klopp, and there is enough evidence to indicate that the grass isn’t always greener. Last summer, former teammate Georginio Wijnaldum chose to leave Liverpool and join Paris Saint-Germain.

With limited game time and transfer link away from the Parc des Princes, the Dutch international’s season has been anything but easy, and things got even worse last week when he was left out of the provisional Netherlands team for their forthcoming UEFA Nations League meetings.

Wijnaldum isn’t the only player to struggle after leaving Anfield, Philippe Coutinho, Xherdan Shaqiri and Emre Can all endured difficult spells when they called time on their Liverpool career.

Lionel Messi left Barcelona at the end of last season to pursue a fresh challenge in Ligue 1, but the response he received from fans in France is a far cry from what he experienced in La Liga. Instead, fans booed him after the club was eliminated from the Champions League by Real Madrid.

When it comes to signing a new deal, there are a lot of factors to consider, which is why Salah’s negotiations have taken so long. But, for the sake of a little extra cash, it’s worth considering whether it’s worth leaving a squad that allows you to thrive regularly and routinely competes for championships at the highest level of the game.
