Michael Owen gives prediction for Liverpool vs Benfica and Atletico Madrid vs Man City results
Former Liverpool forward Michael Owen has given his predictions for Liverpool and Manchester City’s Champions League quarter-final second legs respectively.
The two Premier League giants face off against Benfica and Atletico Madrid, respectively, with each English side boasting the upper hand from last week.
Liverpool secured a 3-1 win in Portugal, giving Benfica a tough task back at Anfield. while City holds a 1-0 slender advantage over Atletico Madrid.
Ahead of Wednesday evening’s deciders, Owen has predicted the two results; starting with his former club Liverpool, who he is backing to reach the semi-finals comfortably.
“This should be a straightforward night at Anfield,” said Owen.
“Benfica caused a few problems in Lisbon, but Liverpool deserved to win by at least a couple of goals. I like the look of Darwin Nunez, but I can’t see him or Benfica causing too many problems. 2-0 Liverpool.”

Speaking On City’s game against the Spanish giants, Owen admitted: “I’m looking forward to this one. The game in Manchester wasn’t much of a spectacle, but 1-0 wasn’t a bad result for Atletico.
“They’ll have to go for it here, and the atmosphere should be fantastic. I think Atletico opening up will suit Man City though, I can see them getting a couple of goals. I think they’ll edge this 2-1.”
De Bruyne’s goal put Pep Guardiola’s side ahead for round two, with his controlled attack in the 70th minute the only clear chance Diego Simeone gave the Premier League leaders.
But Simeone’s side was dealt an early blow in their battle to reach the semi-finals, with Atletico being forced to partially close their ground, the Wanda Metropolitano.
As for the match itself, we are expecting a different game from the first encounter between both sides.
