Manchester United and Liverpool set to battle for the signature of top French midfield sensation.

Manchester United and Liverpool are the two Premier League clubs lacking depth in their midfield section.

According to reports from David Ornstein of Athletic, both clubs are monitoring French midfielder, Aurelien Tchouameni. There could be a transfer battle between the two clubs if interest intensifies.

Manchester United interim manager Ralf Rangnick knows that the team lacks quality and depth in the middle of the park. With Paul Pogba and Donny van de Beek currently not on their best performance and might be leaving old Trafford soon.

United have been linked with a move for midfielder stars across Europe the likes of Borussia Monchengladbach Dennis Zakaria, RB Salzburg Amadou Haidara, and West Ham Declan Rice alongside Tchouameni.

On the other hand, after selling Gini Wijnaldum to Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) last summer, Liverpool didn’t bring any players to add depth to their current squad.

This has now become a huge problem for manager Jurgen Klopp as Liverpool are now 11 points behind league leaders Manchester City.
