Liverpool transfer: Liverpool plot January move for in-form 10-goal RB Salzburg striker with club open to January transfer
Liverpool is one of the teams reportedly interested in signing Noah Okafor, a striker for Salzburg, and the club’s sporting director hasn’t ruled out a January transfer.
As the most recent in Salzburg’s long line of productive attackers, Okafor joins the likes of Erling Haaland, Patson Daka, Karim Adeyemi, and Benjamin Sesko in their impressive offensive output.

Those who excel in Salzburg frequently earn transfers to other institutions; Sesko is the most recent example, graduating to RB Leipzig with a transfer date set for 2023.
Steffen Freund, the Austrian club’s sporting director, acknowledged he is “not ruling out” a transaction as soon as January, suggesting that the team is reportedly already planning for Okafor’s transfer.
Following a rumour that Liverpool, along with Manchester City, Manchester United, and AC Milan, have already “expressed an interest” in the 22-year-old, a report from Sky Germany claimed that.
Okafor, who is on the Switzerland World Cup roster, has scored 10 goals in 22 games for Salzburg so far this season.
In an interview with Sky Germany, Freund expressed the hope that a noteworthy competition might spark real interest in a player who is reportedly worth between £30 million and £35 million.
“I hope that Noah plays a good World Cup, then the Okafor stock could be very interesting in the winter,” he said.
“He doesn’t have to change, but it could be the next step…I am not ruling it out.”
Over the past two seasons, his role has grown, and he now leads the line alongside Junior Adamu. This season, he has scored in three straight Champions League games against AC Milan, Chelsea, and Dinamo Zagreb.
He is speedy and adaptable in his role up front, able to drift wide and run behind defenses as well as drop deep and link up play, and his finishing is rapidly getting better.
It’s uncertain how he would fit into the Liverpool team, especially in light of recent rumors that Roberto Firmino would sign a new deal, but this season’s injuries to Luis Diaz and Diogo Jota demonstrate how having additional depth could be advantageous.
Okafor might be considered a player of the future as teams look to sign athletes in their early 20s or younger.
