Liverpool set to battle Newcastle United for the signing of Teenage star

Liverpool have joined the race to sign Aberdeen defender Calvin Ramsay, with Newcastle United also interested in the youngster.

According to Daily Record Liverpool are in the mix to sign Ramsay, joining their city rivals, Everton.

The teenage star is now also wanted by Premier League clubs  Newcastle United and Manchester United who are believed to be keen too.

Leicester City are considering an offer in January, and Aberdeen could face something of a bidding war for their best young talent.

Branded “elite” by Aberdeen President Dave Cormack, there is high hope for Ramsay.

The 18-year-old has played 19 times for Aberdeen this season and has already had eight assists in an impressive campaign.

Liverpool already have a star in Trent Alexander-Arnold.  However, with question marks about the future of Neco Williams, Ramsay could sign as Alexander-Arnold’s competition.

Newcastle may offer a broader path to immediate first-team action, as none of their right-backs are in the same stratosphere as Alexander-Arnold.

Aberdeen will now expect a great fee for Ramsay, with Newcastle potentially able to pay even more than Liverpool thanks to their new owners.
