Liverpool may have ready-made swap deal to secure midfield transfer target in January transfer window
If Liverpool decides to renew their interest in Douglas Luiz when the transfer window reopens in January, they may have the ideal man to exchange in front of Aston Villa.
A swap involving Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain might be the perfect solution, especially in light of the midfielder’s earlier remarks.

Liverpool is pushed to replace Naby Keita in January by making a trade.
Near the end of the summer transfer window, the Reds joined Arsenal in the pursuit of Luiz, but it was the Gunners who made firm offers on deadline day.
In order to allay their midfield worries, Liverpool had already secured a loan agreement for Arthur Melo. However, in a few weeks, Jurgen Klopp may reconsider signing the Aston Villa player.
Liverpool may have a secret tool in their sleeves to make the deal more alluring, even though £25 million wasn’t enough to convince the Brazilian to leave the West Midlands last week.
Oxlade-Chamberlain has previously spoken highly of Gerrard, calling the former England player his “hero.”
Therefore, it seems sense that he might be open to a Villa Park move in January, especially given how hard it has been for him to get playing time under Klopp.
With players like Fabinho, Thiago Alcantara, and Jordan Henderson all clearly ahead of him in the midfield pecking order, the 29-year-old made just 17 Premier League appearances in the previous season.
Aston Villa, who has struggled to score goals this season, might also be willing to accept Oxlade-Chamberlain.
Gerrard’s team has only managed one victory in their first six games, leaving them just above the relegation zone.
The disgraced Liverpool player might be the inspiration that a misfiring group of attackers needs to perform at their best.
Options for Jurgen Klopp to change his Liverpool team during the upcoming rebuild
With Southampton, Oxlade-Chamberlain advanced through the ranks, building a strong reputation as a young man and earning a significant transfer to Arsenal after making his Saints debut at the age of 16.
His time in north London came to an end five years ago after making just under 200 appearances for the Gunners, and he has since essentially been a supporting character.
“Playing for a team like Arsenal, it ends up being more of a right-wing job,” he admitted back in 2017.
“I get the ball from deeper and that plays into my hands more. At the end of the day, it’s given me minutes and I’m not one to complain.
“But, the centre-mid role… I’ve always wanted to be Steven Gerrard, so I’ve still got a hope of that.”
After suffering a “severe” hamstring injury in Liverpool’s preseason win over Crystal Palace, Oxlade-Chamberlain has yet to play under Klopp this season.
In contrast, Luiz has one goal in five Premier League appearances for Villa.
