Transfer journalist drop massive hints on second Liverpool signing after Cody Gakpo
According to transfer source Dean Jones, Liverpool would be “quite open minded” regarding the prospect of adding a new midfielder to their roster during the January transfer window.
Following the team’s recent loss to Brentford, former Reds player Jamie Carragher criticized Liverpool’s transfer committee.

Liverpool has had a remarkable decline from grace, going from being less than one and a half games away from completing a historic quadruple last season to trailing the league leaders by 16 points at the turn of the year.
The only things that prevented the Reds from winning four trophies the previous season were a dramatic last-day comeback against Aston Villa and a Thibaut Courtois-inspired performance in the Champions League final, but with nearly half of the current season already played, Liverpool are being forced to make adjustments.
Jurgen Klopp’s team has clearly deteriorated, losing more Premier League games already than they did last year. Many believe the midfield is the team’s primary area of weakness.
Jordan Henderson and Thiago Alcantara, both over 30, and Fabinho, a regular in the middle of the field, could compel Liverpool to look for reinforcements in the January market and have been heavily linked with the likes of Jude Bellingham, Matheus Nunes and Enzo Fernandez who jus won the world cup with Argentina.
Of course, the former Premier League champions have already made a fresh addition this month with the £45 million arrival of Cody Gakpo from PSV Eindhoven.
Klopp’s team may want to focus on the midfield if they want to keep contending at the top level, though, as the recent defeat to Brentford demonstrated.
What’s Jones said about Liverpool and a midfielde
Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, Jones revealed that Liverpool would be willing to re-enter the market in January should the right midfield option become available.
“What I would say, Liverpool are very open minded about this position,” Jones told GMS.
“They have shown their muscle in this market so recently it’s hard to discard anything at this point – especially in a position they need to fix more than they do in attack.”
