Jurgen Klopp meet with midfielder who has cemented place on Liverpool shortlist at World Cup
Liverpool are ready to take further steps towards the signing of Sofyan Amrabat after the next talks were pencilled in involving Jurgen Klopp, a reporter has revealed
Amrabat has moved up Liverpool’s midfield shortlist since helping Morocco progress to the World Cup semifinals. To decide who will take on Argentina in the final on Sunday, they will face off against France on Wednesday.
Morocco’s players will return to concentrating on their club responsibilities after their involvement in the competition is over. Some of them have made an impression that puts them in the running for possible January transfers.
Amrabat is undoubtedly one of them after earlier this year attracting Tottenham Hotspur. Spurs and Liverpool are now closely monitoring his status in addition to Spurs.
Throughout the World Cup, there have been further reports concerning the Reds’ interest. They seem to have spent a lot of effort into Amrabat’s potential addition.
Now, Foot Mercato journalist Anas Bakhkhar has told Empire of the Kop how advanced Liverpool’s pursuit of Amrabat is.

The reporter revealed: “Liverpool’s coach Jurgen Klopp has met the agent of Sofyan Amrabat.
“We can also mention that his brother, Nordin Amrabat, who has been working on his brother’s career for a long time now, was also there and they both met with the coach.
“It was a very good meeting. It was positive and they will be meeting a few days after the end of the World Cup to see if the interest is the same for Jurgen Klopp.
“After his performances in Qatar, the interest shouldn’t change and there will be other meetings to see the demands of Fiorentina, also the demands of his agent – to see if that transfer will go ahead or not.”
Amrabat is expected to remain with Fiorentina for the entire season, according to reports. It might be challenging to persuade them to sell him in January as a matter of fact.
The Serie A team may need to consider making a profit while his stock is high. Additionally, his contract with Fiorentina only lasts until 2024, though they do have the option to extend it by an additional year to preserve his market worth.
With interest increasing, they may choose to activate that option. But Liverpool could be planning to put some money on the table in January anyway.
