“I remember having a Sadio mane shirt” – Watch Liverpool unveil Sadio Mane ‘heir’ as Jürgen Klopp has a major new option this season
A young Liverpool player who is expected to follow in Sadio Mané’s footsteps will provide manager Jürgen Klopp a huge boost heading into the new campaign.
The departure of Sadio Mané from Anfield still seems unbelievable and illogical. However, the former Liverpool winger is no longer under contract with the team, so the Reds must now work toward a new future.

Jürgen Klopp’s Liverpool will experience some change in pre-season thanks to the three first team additions made by Julian Ward over the summer who are all under the age of 23.
The 2022–23 season will see the emergence of a brand-new Liverpool, one that is supported by the club’s illustrious elders while simultaneously being revitalized by its promising young players.
Harvey Elliott has succinctly described that development. He used to look up to Mané as a child, just a few years ago, and idolize the Liverpool legend.
He will now have the chance to follow in the legend’s shoes after briefly playing alongside him as teammates.
Elliott will play for Liverpool in the 2019–2020 season using the number 19, which was formerly worn by Mané. Elliott cited Mané as having had the greatest influence on the decision to modify the club’s official website.
“I remember having a Sadio shirt with the number 19 on it as a kid. So to be able to wear it after him, it’s a great pleasure.
“At the end of the day, a number is just a number, but it’s just nice to have a lower number. I think it’s a great opportunity going into another season.”
Near the close of the previous season, many people were a touch too impatient with Elliott. The adolescent was still healing from a major accident, so it would take some time for him to fully recover.
But if the Liverpool midfielder can go back to the form he was in before getting hurt, Klopp might have a formidable player in his team, someone who will not only be an important part of Liverpool’s future but also a key element of the team’s upcoming season.
Elliott was a key contributor to Liverpool’s midfield’s creative output last season, averaging the most shot-creating actions (5.46) per 90 minutes.
Near the end of the season, Liverpool frequently lacked that spark in the final third and struggled to generate many clear-cut chances from midfield.
Particularly if Klopp chooses to employ a 4-2-3-1 formation, Elliott may well end up becoming almost like another new signing if he can produce comparable results from a much larger sample size the next season.
The inspiration and the motive are all present in a new song that borrows a song from one of his heroes. Elliott now has to work hard and seize his opportunity.
