‘We’ll stop there’ – Watch Sadio mane issues fresh Liverpool transfer update as FSG plans to raid Leeds for his replacement

Mané enraged many Liverpool fans earlier this week with statements he made in a press conference while on international duty. He seemed to imply that ’60-70 percent’ of Senegalese people wanted him to quit the club, and that he would ‘do what they want.’

For the most part, he let his football do the talking last night. In a 3-1 win over Benin in Africa Cup of Nations qualifying, he scored a three trick for Senegal, becoming the country’s all-time leading scorer.

He did, however, have something to say about Liverpool following the game. In an attempt to clarify his past remarks, he stated:

“I spoke yesterday while joking with a bit of humour and it was everywhere.

“I think we’ll stop there. Liverpool is a club I respect a lot. The fans adopted me since day one. Regarding the future, we’ll see.

It’s commendable that Mané has attempted to heal any harm to his fan base, and this farewell speech appears to be more vague than earlier statements.

Liverpool, on the other hand, will almost certainly be prepared for a departure if a suitable transfer offer is received.

Liverpool might make two raids on Leeds.

Raphinha has been linked with a move to Liverpool for some time. The scenario involving Sadio Mané is just going to fuel these rumors. Elland Road, however, may have to prepare for a double swoop, according to the Sunday People (via the Paisley Gates).

In addition to the Brazilian, Liverpool is rumored to be interested in signing Kalvin Phillips. FSG will still be looking for a defensive-minded midfielder, and the Englishman could fit the bill.

With Aurélien Tchouaméni looking likely to choose Real Madrid, FSG will still be looking for a defensive-minded midfielder, and the Englishman could fit the bill.

It makes a lot of sense from a stylistic standpoint. Phillips is capable of filling in for Fabinho at number six, but he also has experience further forward. He’s used to a game that’s quite high-intensity. Several important Liverpool boxes have been checked.

However, from a financial standpoint, this appears to be a no-go for FSG. Liverpool would spend £120 million on a double transfer swoop, according to the report. One of the two could be targeted, but it would be surprising if both were in Liverpool.
