New forward hero Gabriel Jesus contributed two goals and two assists to the victory.

Jesus gave his team the lead with a superb finish after Leicester had made a solid start and prevented Arsenal from gaining any momentum.

He then added a header from a corner kick to make it 2-0 for his team going into the half.

A William Saliba own goal and a James Maddison shot that deflected off the goalie gave Leicester City two goals in the second half to appear to tie the game.

However, the Gunners responded each time with goals from Granit Xhaka and Gabriel Martinelli, both of whom received help from Jesus.

Naby keita helped win the ball high in the Reds half before unleashing the Egyptian King down the right flank.

The former Roma forward drove towards the Seagulls’ box and instead of opting to switch the ball to Cody Gakpo on the other side of the area, he slid a neat pass into Elliott who slotted past Jason Steele in the Brighton goal.

Manchester United have one foot in the next round of the FA Cup after a quickfire double from Casemiro eased any fears that the Reds were in for a long evening.

Marcus Rashford had a first-half goal disallowed by VAR but it didn’t take long after the interval for United to claim an advantage over Paul Ince’s side.

Antony and Casemiro combined to score the opening goal and it was the latter who would double United’s lead, as seen below.

When the forward grabbed a lofted ball on the volley and placed his effort in the top-right corner, his teammates cheered in admiration.

Nketiah netted twice, either side of a Bukayo Saka stunner, while Marcus Rashford netted a wonderful solo goal of his own before Lisandro Martinez equalised for the visitors in the second half.

Mike Arteta’s side came out the blocks quickest in the opening 15 minutes with United hardly having a touch of the ball in their opponent’s final third, but it was the visitors who soon took the lead against the run of play with a moment of magic from Rashford.

Having picked up the ball in the middle of the pitch, he nutmegged Thomas Partey before dribbling forward and unleashing a fierce low-shot from 20 yards that flew past Aaron Ramsdale.

But Arsenal are a team that don’t roll over anymore and that fighting spirit was clear for all to see as Nketiah had them level just seven minutes later.

Some neat team build-up play led to Granit Xhaka putting in a delightful cross to the back post where Nketiah headed home unmarked from close range with right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka caught napping.

Saka had tormented England teammate Luke Shaw all match and on 53 minutes he cut inside his man and drilled a stunning shot into De Gea’s far post right into the bottom left corner to put them in front.

United weren’t letting the league leaders take three points without putting up a fight of their own though, as Martinez reacted quickest to head home from a corner that Ramsdale flapped at.

Nketiah provided an instinctive finish to poke the ball past De Gea from Odegaard’s goal-bound effort and spark a frenzy inside the Emirates Stadium.
