(VIDEO): Watch Liverpool 2-1 Leicester City Extended Highlights and Goals – Two Own Goals from Faes Give Reds Three Points
Liverpool came out on top and 2-1 winner in a hard-fought contest at Anfield on Friday against Leicester City.
Jurgen Klopp made just one change to his starting XI with Harvey Elliott replacing Fabinho who was missing for Personal reasons.
Leicester City took the lead in the 4th minute as they took advantage of some sloppy play in midfield by Liverpool with Patson Daka sliding in Kiernan Dewsburry-Hall who finished well past Alisson Becker.
The Foxes threatened to score a second goal as the Reds continued to lose possession and give up too much space in the middle of the field.
Despite having several good opportunities, they were unable to take advantage of them. After Mohamed Salah came close after some excellent work from Darwin Nunez, Liverpool eventually equalised rather fortuitously in the 38th minute when Wout Faes deflected a Trent Alexander-Arnold cross into his own net.
Seven minutes later, after Darwin Nunez’s chipped attempt had rebounded off the post, Faes added another goal to make it 2-1, prolonging his misery.
Liverpool improved slightly second half and should have scored further goals through Salah and Nunez but despite the counter attacking threat from Leicester were able to see the game out.
The Reds are back on the road again on Monday when they travel to London to face in form Brentford.
