(Video) Watch Darwin Nunez’s thunderous 30-yard strike forces stunning stop from Iran’s goalkeeper
Liverpool superstar Darwin Nunez was in action for Uruguay as the South American side fell to a shocking 1-0 defeat to Iran.
The £64 million player made his full 90-minute appearance for Diego Alonso’s team in Austria, and although he was unable to score, the 23-year-old came awfully close with a powerful shot from 30 yards out.
In a remarkable effort, the former SL Benfica forward forced Alireza Beiranvand to make an incredible stop in the Iran goal.
A defender for Iran mishandled a clearing, allowing Nunez to receive the ball and strike it with finesse.
Before the goalkeeper made what might have been one of his best saves of his career, the shot was headed for the upper right corner of the net.
