Even though the majority of our followers may not have seen our most recent purchase, Liverpool is still making moves throughout the transfer season.

Oludare Olufunwa has signed with the Reds, and the former Southampton player is obviously thrilled to be able to now refer to himself as a Red.

The 21-year-old posted on his Twitter account, saying: “Excited to be joining this fantastic club, such a special place!”

I appreciate everyone’s kindness in making me feel at home; now, let’s get to work!

The addition of a player of the Southampton-born defender’s age and his public announcement as a member of our Academy strike some as an odd choice.

It makes sense to provide the young players another defensive option by loaning out Rhys Williams and potentially still loaning or selling Nat Phillips during this window.

Although it is unknown how near the former trialist will come to the first team, it seems like this is a move that will only ever be temporary.

Despite a number of loan movements away from the club, it feels like our younger teams are truly being strengthened this summer with the addition of Jay Spearing to the junior setup.

Best of luck to the youngster on his new endeavor, and let’s hope the team made a wise decision with this trade.
