The German international has four goals in eight outings against Jurgen Klopp’s team because of his time at Manchester City.

Sane, though, was on the losing team as Liverpool defeated City 5-2 overall in the Champions League quarterfinals in 2018.

The 26-year-old is still eager to take on the Reds in Europe, though, despite that.

After acquiring Sadio Mane from Liverpool and Matthijs de Ligt from Juventus, Sane will be part of a Bayern team that many will consider to be among the favorites to win the Champions League in 2022–23.

Sane described playing against the Reds as “exhausting,” but he said he would still like to do so in an interview with The Athletic. He stated:

“Liverpool is always a great game, really hard and exhausting. I’d (also) love to play against Real Madrid again, and I would also enjoy meeting City.

“It would be difficult. But that’s the kind of pressure I’m looking for, it’s the most fun you can have as a player.”

In this season’s Champions League group stages, the Reds may be paired with Bayern.

The German giants will be in pot one because they are national champions.

The draw will take place on Thursday, August 25, and the Reds will be in pot number two.

The two teams’ most recent matchup in Europe’s top tournament took place in 2019.

After a 0-0 draw on Merseyside, Liverpool won 3-1 in Munich to advance to the round of 16, continuing their march toward the club’s sixth European Cup.
