Benfica make Enzo Fernández transfer ‘decision’

Liverpool FC target and current world cup winner Enzo Fernandez will only be permitted to leave Benfica if his full release clause is paid, according to 90Min, as the Portuguese club does not want to lose the midfielder just six months after acquiring him from River Plate.

Although the Record recently reported that the Reds already had a “pre-agreement” in place, Fernández’s release clause is £105 million ($127 million/€120 million), making it exceedingly improbable that anyone would pay that sort of cash.

Benfica might be more open to selling in the summer for a price lower than £105 million, even though it would still be a big premium over the modest asking price of about £9 million ($11 million/€10 million).

‘New Lionel Messi’ chase

According to the Daily Mail, Liverpool is now competing with Manchester United, Newcastle United, and Chelsea for the services of Borussia Dortmund starlet Youssoufa Moukoko in 2023.

Despite the fact that Moukoko’s contract expires in the summer, Dortmund is reportedly reluctant to let him depart in January except for a very high price, which could result in a rush to sign him up for free a few months later.

It is a transfer story to keep an eye on in the new year. The teenage goalscoring sensation may still sign a contract extension and stay with the Bundesliga team, but with so much alluring interest from elsewhere.

Goal reports that Samuel Eto’o had asserted that Moukoko might take Lionel Messi’s place at Barcelona.
