Liverpool transfer; Liverpool’s Firmino decision hints at the reds major transfer plan

The one area of Liverpool’s team that is widely acknowledged as needing significant investment is the midfield.

Week after week, fans keep hearing the name  Jude Bellingham in reports, and many correctly anticipate it won’t change any time soon.

Beyond that, the club’s decision to approach Bobby Firmino about the possibility of him staying at Anfield past the summer of 2023 (when his contract expires), as reported in a tweet by Florian Plettenberg (reported on Tribal Football), does provide a hint as to what the recruitment team has in mind for the upcoming two transfer windows.

There will undoubtedly be a need for new midfielders with three players potentially ending their careers in Merseyside next summer due to expired contracts.

That’s not to downplay Firmino’s resurgence this season, as the 31-year-old has contributed to an incredible 13 goals in 21 games.

If both parties agree to an extension, it won’t be done out of desperation, particularly if he maintains his performance level from the first half of the season; he’ll have earned it.

In light of this, it is quite unfortunate that we won’t have the opportunity to see our crazy No. 9 perform on a global stage for what may be the last time.

Nevertheless, there will be a ton of other well-known figures we’ll be watching.

With our No. 27, Firmino, Diogo Jota, Luis Diaz, and Mo Salah in addition to a number of up-and-coming players who may advance the ranks, most notably Ben Doak, we have a strong lineup.
