Liverpool transfer: Fabrizio Romano speaks out on Liverpool transfer links to star with £106.5m release clause

Liverpool Fc have recently been linked with exciting Benfica midfielder Enzo Fernandez after his impressive form in the Portuguese league and with the Argentina national team.

Although Fernandez has a huge release clause of £106.5 million, according to O Jogo, the Reds are rumored to be lovers of him (via the Liverpool Echo).

With Jurgen Klopp’s current crop of midfielders appearing to be a little past the height of their abilities, the 21-year-old might be a great addition to Liverpool to help reinforce a weak spot in the squad.

Fabrizio Romano has however downplayed Liverpool’s links to Fernandez in his special column for CaughtOffside since he anticipates a big number of names to be named as rumored targets for the team in the months to come.

Romano acknowledges that LFC will be looking to make a significant midfield acquisition next summer, but for now it appears that this is what is driving the Fernandez rumors more so than anything else.

“We’ve heard a lot about Jude Bellingham, and now Enzo Fernandez is making headlines!

“Honestly, I think Liverpool will be linked with 20-30 midfielders in the next months as it’s public knowledge that they’re looking for a top midfielder in 2023,” Romano explained.

“As for Enzo Fernandez, he has just arrived at Benfica, he’s focused on Benfica and on the World Cup – no one close to him wants to speak about a potential transfer now. Let’s see in the summer!”

Liverpool fans will undoubtedly be watching Fernandez’s development because, if he keeps displaying such tremendous potential, it’s possible that he will eventually catch the attention of the team.
