Liverpool are a set to take next step to seal deal for Barcelona star
Liverpool are set to go a step further in a bid to sign Barcelona star Ronald Araujo next summer according to reports.
It sounds odd, with the reds having just brought in Ibrahima Konate from RB Leipzig last summer.
With Konate haven made just six appearances this season as he competes with Joel Matip for a place in the side, while Joe Gomez is still recovering from an injury.
According to Sport Liverpool are interested in signing Araujo from Barcelona as his contract runs down ahead of a 2023 expiry date.
Also, Liverpool are ‘ready to take the next step to sign the Uruguay international and ‘will be able to offer him better wages than what Barca are currently offering’.
Barcelona are currently faced with a financial crisis, as they were forced to allow their superstar Lionel Messi to depart the club last summer and could now lose one of their youngsters.
Araujo is a fantastic, combative, ball-playing defender but he is simply not needed by Liverpool at the moment.
