Liverpool prioritising a cut-price £35m move for out of favour Man City star
Liverpool ‘are prioritising a cut-price £35m move for Man City’s Kalvin Phillips’ as Jurgen Klopp prepares midfield overhaul this summer…
According to reports, Liverpool are getting ready to make an astonishing £35 million summer offer to sign Manchester City midfilder, Kalvin Phillips to Anfield.
With only 16 appearances across all competitions and no Premier League starts since arriving at the Etihad Stadium from Leeds last summer, Phillips has been a peripheral member of Pep Guardiola’s City team.
After withdrawing themselves from consideration for Jude Bellingham, Liverpool is evaluating the market for available midfielders and will now try to sign Phillips, according to the Daily Star.
According to reports, City would lose £10 million on the amount they paid to relegation-threatened Leeds last summer if they accepted the price Liverpool is reportedly willing to offer.

The 27-year-old had been a crucial member of Gareth Southgate’s England team, but he has witnessed a decrease in playing time with the national team, with a smaller involvement at both the most recent European Championship qualifiers and last year’s World Cup.
Jurgen Klopp wants to revive his midfield with new talent in the summer and Liverpool have reportedly made it clear that they are admirers of Phillips and are keen on a switch.
Additionally, it has been reported that the central midfielder voiced a desire to quit City in the summer in favour of a transfer to the Reds.
Phillips is a member of a City squad that still has its sights set on winning the Premier League, the FA Cup, and the Champions League this year.
However, he is unlikely to play a significant part in Guardiola’s plans until a terrible and unexpected number of injuries forces the Catalan to consider including the Englishman in the mix.
Many expected Phillips to make his third start of the season in Saturday’s FA Cup semi-final clash against Championship side Sheffield United given City’s midweek trip to Germany in the Champions League.
But he was again relegated to the bench and forced to wait until the 75th minute to make his introduction, when he replaced Ilkay Gundogan.
Before the match at Wembley, Guardiola questioned Phillips’ ability and gave an explanation for why he hasn’t played much for the Premier League champions this year.
Guardiola noted that Kalvin still needs a little rhythm in short spaces.
We miss the best of Kalvin, it’s a reason why he doesn’t have a lot of minutes.
