Liverpool FC confirms another loan transfer as ace Brazilian goalkeeper departs

With the departure of Brazilian goalkeeper Marcelo Pitaluga on a one-year loan to the eighth tier, LiverpoolLiverpool has now officially announced their sixth loan of the summer.

In his first weeks on the job at Anfield, new sports director Julian Ward has been very active, sanctioning six loan deals in addition to three acquisitions and two sells.

Pitaluga, who is viewed as the next goalie to advance to the first team, has most recently agreed to join Macclesfield Town for the 2022–2023 season.

The 19-year-old spent last season as the first choice with the under-23 team and fourth choice with the senior squad after moving to Liverpool from Fluminense in a £1.8 million move in 2020.

He usually travels for home and away matchdays and trains daily with the first team, but his new aim will be to become the top player in the Northern Premier League Division One West.

Pitaluga is taking a risk by doing this while he gets used to the demands of English football; he will probably continue to train at the AXA Training Centre with Jurgen ‘Klopp’s team.

After winning the North West Counties Football League Premier Division championship the previous season, Macclesfield is currently playing in the eighth tier of the pyramid.

“To attract players of Marcelo’s stature really does exemplify how far the football club has come in what remains a very short period of time,” Robbie Savage, director of football at Macclesfield, told the club’s official website.

“For Liverpool Football Club to trust us with one of their most promising talents speaks volumes about how we are perceived in the wider footballing world and I would like to thank them wholeheartedly for allowing Marcelo to join us for the 2022/23 campaign.”

Jurgen Klopp, along with goalkeeping coaches John Achterberg, Claudio Taffarel and Jack Robinson, is a firm admirer of Pitaluga, and a close eye will be kept on his progress at Macclesfield.
