Liverpool defender Joel Matip has sent clear warning message to rival clubs concerning Darwin Nunez
Ahead of the 2022/23 season, Joel Matip has warned Liverpool’s rivals about the ‘difficult’ qualities of his new Liverpool teammate Darwin Nunez.
Following the club’s return from Asia, the Uruguayan international dominated the Reds’ third preseason encounter, scoring four goals to help Jurgen Klopp’s team thrash RB Leipzig 5-0 on Thursday night.
“Great finish, great speed and the body he always puts in – I think it will be really difficult for our opponents,” the Cameroonian told the club’s official website.
It’s reasonable to say that the former Benfica hitman shocked his critics into silence after receiving harsh internet criticism following an hour of preseason football.
Although Liverpool supporters have yet to experience what the No. 27 offers under the German tactician, if the second half of play against the Bundesliga team is any indication, change need not be feared.
In fact, it carries on the manager’s desire of continuous change from season to season in an effort to make it challenging for our opponents to “figure us out.”
One thing is certain: it is obviously much too early to label Nunez a failure.
