Darwin Nunez has had a difficult time adjusting to life at Liverpool. In both of his team’s opening two preseason matches against Manchester United, Crystal Palace.

He failed to make an impact until he faced RB Leipzig, where he excelled, scoring four goals after coming on at halfway.

In response to the criticism he has faced as a result of his performance in Liverpool’s first two preseason games, Darwin Nunez has spoken.

After the Reds’ 4-0 loss to Manchester United on Tuesday, the Uruguayan played the final 30 minutes before Jurgen Klopp essentially fielded two teams and substituted him against Crystal Palace at halftime.

Nunez, however, was replaced after only 30 minutes due to an unimpressive performance.

Mohamed Salah’s shot against United hit the post, and Nunez missed a clear-cut opportunity to score when the ball rebounded to him from eight yards.

His unofficial debut ended in failure, but he came close to scoring late on with a rasping half-volley that Tom Heaton brilliantly stopped.

Nunez’s performance against a depleted Palace team raised hopes that he would improve, but it was not to be as the 23-year-old once again fell short of expectations.

After Trent Alexander-cutback, Arnold’s he missed another clear opportunity, but to his striker’s credit, the cross took a tiny deflection on its way through, forcing him to readjust his feet.

A Twitter compilation of Nunez’s poor passing included an ineffective attempt to head the ball down to a teammate that only found a Palace player, as well as a careless foul and a missed opportunity.

Despite having only recently moved for £85 million from Benfica, he is well aware of the criticism directed at him.

Roberto Firmino’s easy pass to Mohamed Salah in the first half gave Liverpool the lead, and Nunez’s goal in the second half gave Liverpool a 5-0 victory over the bundesliga team.

After successfully converting a penalty in the second half, the newest summer addition recovered stronger and blasted three more spectacular goals past the RB Leipzig goalie.

Against RB Leipzig in preseason, Darwin Nunez scored his first hat trick while wearing the Liverpool uniform.

“It’s kind of a game or a joke for some people to pick out some situations where a player’s not doing well.

“That’s only a game from [fans of] other clubs, which is normal. Our fans probably do [the same] with signings of Manchester United. We cannot take this seriously.”

“But I don’t think it makes too much sense to talk after a football game about individual players, to be honest, because I’m not sure exactly but I think 32 players round about we used tonight and I liked all of them, what they did, to be honest.”
